TrueSafari Moments

Community work

communityWe think it is important to make a positive difference to the environment and the local community. If you travel with us you can be sure you are making a difference too!

We work with African wildlife and conservation organizations and we if possible use eco-friendly lodges in our itineraries. We have initiatives in place to reduce fuel and water consumption.

We are committed to improving the opportunities and circumstances of African people, in Tanzania and beyond. We make extensive use of local staff and our business contributes to the economies of quite a few African countries.

We are involved in several projects in Tanzania that help the local people and the environment. We have chosen sustainable projects (as we do not believe in just donating money) that are creating a better future for Tanzania and its people through education and commerce. We donate a percentage of our profits to these projects.

Maasai Women Art:
This project seeks to empower rural women in Tanzania by improving their access to education and their chance to generate an income. The project involves a number of women’s groups producing and selling traditional Maasai craftwork and jewellery. MWA also runs educational programs to raise awareness about natural resource protection, HIV/AIDS and women’s rights.

Kamitei Foundation:
This charity contributes to the education of children in rural Tanzania through community programs and individual scholarships. They currently reach thousands of children through the schools they support.

Honeyguide foundation:
The Honeyguide Foundation (HGF) is a grassroots organization based in Tanzania dedicated to supporting local communities and conservation of wildlife and natural resources through long-term community partnerships. HGF strives to ensure the conservation of this unique landscape and its wildlife, to promote global biodiversity and sustainable land use. The key is to provide communities, who are the custodians of the land and the natural resources within, with sustainable options for their livelihood by improving their economy, health and education.
