Nelly Kreeftmeyer was born in 1971 in Maju ya Chai, Tanzania. After 11 years in Tanzania, she moved to the Netherlands with her Dutch father, Tanzanian mother, and her sister and brothers. She studied fashion in the Netherlands and graduated in 1994. She is fluent in Dutch, English and Swahili. She moved back to Africa because to her, it is home. She is one of the TrueAfrica originals, having been with us since we started in 2002.

She has two sons and a little girl who mean the world to her and loves to take them for hikes in the countryside. She is fond of swimming, gardening and reading. Her favourite park is Tarangire National Park, where she can see lots of elephants - her favourite animal.
