Anoek van der Vinne was born in 1982 in Groningen, The Netherlands. She studied International Relations and Philosophy at the University of Groningen followed by a degree in Human Rights & Democratisation in Venice and Belfast.

From an early age Anoek has been fascinated by Africa and in 2005 she left for Malawi, where she worked as an intern with the Delegation of the European Commission. In the capital Lilongwe she met the man of her dreams. After several trips through East and Southern Africa they now live together in Arusha, Tanzania. Here, Anoek fell in love with the people, the scent and the colours of Africa. Nothing is more beautiful to her than the breathtaking African sunsets that turn everything bright red!
